- Sony announced two new PlayStation 3 models in Japan, the 160GB model will replace the existing 120GB model on July 29, for 29980 yen. A new 320GB model will be available on the same date, for 34980 yen. The 160GB model will be available in Classic White and Charcoal Black, and the 320GB model is only in Charcoal Black. The existing 120GB model will become open price on July 7 and phasing out.
- In addition, Sony will also replace the PS3 Trone Digital Video Recorder Bundle Pack with a 160GB Charcoal Black model on July 29, the price is 36980 yen.

- Namco Bandai announced Idol Master 2 for Xbox 360, the sequel to the popular idol creation simulation game. The game will due in 2011.
- Activision CEO Bobby Kotick mentioned to Financial Times that he is frustrated by the Xbox Live business model, because Microsoft would benefit the most from the service. For example over 60% subscribers are on Live because of Call of Duty series, but Activision doesn't get any revenue from it.
